Former Stanford and Duke standout Gabe Dinette joins the FilAmSports management family.

We are pleased to introduce our newest member, Gabe Dinette, to the FilAmSports family. Gabe competed for Stanford University and Duke University from 2019-2023, starting for both programs and wrestling at 157, 165, and 174 pounds weight classes. He served as team captain at Duke and earned both ACC and Pac-12 Academic All-American honors.

Gabe's maternal grandmother is from Manila in the Philippines, while his mother is from Concord, California. His father, who also wrestled at Stanford University, is from Oregon. Gabe's older brother competed in Division I wrestling at Campbell University in North Carolina, and his younger sister was a Division I diver at the University of Denver. His youngest sister participated in track in high school.

"Sports have always been central to my family, from my paternal grandfather playing baseball at Brigham Young University to my father wrestling at Stanford and competing internationally in submission grappling," says Gabe. "We participated in all sports growing up, but wrestling was what stuck with me."

"My family represents a mix of cultures, but we take great pride in our Filipino heritage," Gabe continues. "I want to represent the Philippines by showcasing how hard work, big dreams, and persevering through difficult times can pay off. I want to demonstrate to the culture that hard work does lead to success and you can achieve your dreams no matter the obstacles in your path. I learned this from my grandmother. She taught me what it means to be brave and strong - to work through hardships and never give up. She represents what it means to be a Filipina, and I want to honor her by creating a platform through wrestling that honors her and my Filipino roots. I aim to use this platform to bring glory to God and the Philippines. As Filipinos, we come from a long line of resilience and determination—we should never be dismissed or overlooked."

"The Philippines has experienced great success in combat sports for decades, and I want to help bring Filipino wrestling into that tradition of victorious combat sports within the Philippines," Gabe says in conclusion.
