All-American and All Pac-West Danae Manibog, joins the FilAmSports family.

We are excited to introduce Danae Manibog to the FilAm Sports team. Danae ran track and field for Fresno Pacific University where she was a member of the 4x400 meter relay team that captured the 2022 national championship. Manibog also earned Academic All-PacWest Honors and USTFCCCA Academic All-American in 2022 and All-American and Academic All-PacWest Honors in 2021 and 2019.

Danae’s grandfather, Gonzalo Monty Manibog was born in Laoag, Ilocos Norte. His father, Danae’s great grandfather, was the first Filipino professor of law in the United States. In 1952, he competed for the Philippines in the Olympic Games held in Helsinki. 36 years later, Danae’s uncle, Dean Carlo Manibog, represented at the 1988 Olympics in Seoul. Monty Manibog was also one of the first Filipinos in Southern California to win office as mayor of Monterey Park.

Danae’s family is also no stranger in the world of entertainment. Her cousin, Margarita Moran, was the second Filipina crowned Miss Universe in 1973. In 1982, her aunt, Lisa Manibog, went on to win the Miss Binibining Pilipinas International in 1982. Lisa is currently a producer in Los Angeles having won 8 Emmy awards for producing hit courtroom reality series like Christina’s Court, Hard Copy, and Judge Judy.

“It’s important for me to represent the Philippines because not only does my family have a tradition of doing so, but also because this is where my family is from, therefore it is where I am from,” states Manibog.

“Being a role model is a great responsibility, I hope that all I do is a reflection of my faith and the work God has done in and through me. Encouraging young athletes, teammates, etc is one of the main reasons I continue to run with such a passion. Anytime I put on the Philippine jersey, I hope to love the people well. I hope to give a voice and inspire those around me to dream bigger and never set limitations on themselves. God has given me a heart for this sport. I get to use it as an outlet to not only reach my athletic potential, but to embody character development in the successes and losses.
